KEN WISEMANLOUISVILLE, KY
My husband, Ken Wiseman, is the ultimate Packers fan. He is the head of our Packers family. It's easy to be a Packers fan when you live in the Green Bay, Wisconsin area, it's even expected. My husband has lived in Louisville, Kentucky all of his 52 years. He grew up in a family of baseball fans. For some reason Ken loves football. It's in his blood and the Packers are in his soul. Ken " eats, sleeps, and breaths" Packers football. He is the "coach " of a fantasy football team consisting of many Packers players. He talks about schedules, and revises his team as if he were Mike McCarthy at Lambeau Field. I think he bleeds "green and gold."
Every Sunday, without fail, Ken and I go to Dutch's our local Packers bar to watch the game. When our son is in town from college, he also attends. It is a family affair. Nothing can get in the way of us "going to the game." Ken frequently organizes tailgate parties I the parking lot. He puts on his Packers apron, uses his Packers grill accessories, and wears his "weggie" while cooking brats and hotdogs for everyone.
Ken had the opportunity to attend his first gale last season with our 21-year-old son. They were like "kids in a candy store." Going to that game was thrill they will never forget. It was the father-son experienced of a lifetime.
Our daughter, Tina and her husband went to Green Bay on the honeymoon in 2005. They were able to see a preseason game and tour the facility. She decorated an entire room in her house in Packer decor'. She was killed in a car accident 18 months ago. She was only 26 years old. At the scene of the accident a green and gold cross was erected in her memory. It says, "Go Packers, Tina we miss you." On her headstone the Green Bay "G" logo is carved.
My husband instilled a love of the Packers in our family. It is the "glue" that bonds us together. We will be fans forever thanks to him.
