LARRY PRIMEAU - De Pere, Wisconsin

Primeau

This is a nomination for the most devoted, unselfish, loyal, and lifelong Green Bay Packers fan, Larry Primeau. Growing up as a child, my husband watched the Packers during the 1960's with his father. His father was also a lifelong Packers fan. He instilled the pride and love for the Packers into his son Larry. Since 1990, Larry is known by fans at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and all over the country as " The Packalope".

Larry created "The Packalope" identity, not to be better than any other Packers fan but, to give him an opportunity to meet and greet and shake hands of thousands of fans from all over the country at Lambeau Field. Being the Packalope also gives him the opportunity to help charities and help less fortunate people. Something he cherishes in doing.

Larry's life has been totally consumed with the Packers. He has donated thousands of dollars in Packers memorabilia to help benefit St. Judes Children's Hospital (a hospital that treats children with catastrophic diseases). By donating some of his Packers collection to raise money, he has helped other local charities: Cerebral Palsy, Special Olympics. He has his own website www.packalope.com where he sells hats and t-shirts. All of the profits go to St. Judes Children's Hospital. He also helps families with sick children donating memorabilia to raise money to help pay their medical expenses.

Larry's totally decorated green and gold Packers van is a fixture in the parking lot at Lambeau Field. People from all over the country come to Lambeau Field just to meet the "The Packalope" and shake his hand. When his kids come up to meet him, he is more than happy to sign and autograph, give them a "Packalope" pin, card and take a photo with them. The cards and pins he pays for out of his own pocket. He never turns anyone away. He even lets children wear "The Packalope" helmet. Nothing makes him happier than to put a smile on a child's face. On occasion, he doesn't even have time to eat before the game, he is content making the fans happy and showing them what great fans there are at Lambeau Field. "The Packalope" has a Packers shrine in his basement displaying all of the Packers memorabilia he has collected throughout his life and items passed onto him by his father.

Larry never stops spreading the word of the Packers. When he is lucky enough to obtain extra tickets for Packers games he makes sure that other Packers fan's that have never had an opportunity to attend a game at Lambeau Field when they get to experience Lambeau for the first time.

Larry took pride in being Co-captain on the event committee of Team Lambeau. He took the lead and put in countless hours helping to organize/ attend and participate in the events. He has never expected anything in return.

This is contest should truly only be based on the fan that has the most dedication, loyalty, and team spirit. Larry is all of this and more. His name had been on the season ticket waiting list since 1973. Finally after waiting 28 years his name came up last year for season tickets. He has missed 5 games in his 28 years of attendance at Lambeau Field. He has supported the Packers through the winning and losing seasons, a sign of a true fan. No one was happier than Larry was when the Packers won Super Bowl XXXI. He had attended live Packers radio shows 3 to 5 times a week for the past 15 years. He has rarely missed a show for his chance to meet his Packers heroes and obtain autographs for donation to charity!

Many people say they are fans, but a true fan is one who supports his team through winning and losing seasons, are dedicated, loyal and true to the Green Bay Packers. Anyone in the Green Bay community, who know Larry, knows there would never be a fan more deserving of this honor than "The Packalope" Larry Primeau.
